Farm Friends for Special Needs Children

"The best thing for the inside of a boy is the outside of a horse" -Will Rogers
We love this quote! To us it is a lot more about unconditional love and an unbreakable bond than manes and saddles!
We have children with special needs, and have found that through all of the therapies we have pursued, the best intervention has been focussing on their interests and strengths and affirming the value of who they are - unconditional love.
We do our best, but animals do it better!
Our animals are not "therapy" animals. They don't ask questions, they don't probe...they're friends.

Would your child benefit from having a special "farm friend"?
We welcome special needs children to visit the farm with their families, whether as a one-time experience or a regular date!
We are happy to accommodate their interests and abilities in any way we can, and share "ownership" of any of our farm friends!
Meet Rosie the Pony...
Rosie is a miniature mare...and she is very small in stature. Just the perfect size for small children to ride, lead, or groom - even seated in a wheelchair. She loves to be loved!
Meet Elliot...a Llama
Our llamas love to go for walks in the woods...or nibble peppermint treats from your hands with their soft fuzzy mouths.
Springtime brings babies...
Fluffy chicks, fuzzy ducklings! You can also feed the chickens, ducks and geese.
Love a lamb...
Pet a sheep...We have several friendly ewes that would love to let you hold their babies or run your fingers through their soft fleeces!

There is no charge for families to visit our farm. We do ask that you call ahead and make an appointment, however. It is important that we know how best to accommodate your family while you are here so that your visit is safe and enjoyable! Weather permitting, our pasture and paddock is wheelchair accessible. We do not have a wheelchair accessible bathroom - yet...It is on our prayer list!
We continue to work towards a complete renovation, so that there are as few limits as possible on our visitors.

We do appreciate any support that is offered as the cost of feed continues to increase. We welcome any donations of feed, contributions to our feed account at local feed stores, or credits for veterinary services. Donations of tack - child-sized helmets and saddles, feed buckets, fly spray...will always be put to good use! Hardware, lumber, fencing, paint, gravel, fill dirt...but our greatest desire is a composting or incinerating toilet that can be put in or near the barn for our visitors...
If you like what we do and would like to know how you can help - we would be happy to visit with you too!

We are working on our affiliation with Personal Ponies...visit their website and you'll know why! Our lives will never be the same!
